Makanaka is an undergraduate Physics with Medical Physics student at UCL. Through her core physics modules, she has been exposed to the modelling of both physical and biological systems, an area she is particularly passionate about.

She also works on the computational modelling of cancer at UCL, a project that has further deepened her interest in this field. She is excited to expand her skill set, especially by gaining experience in implementing Machine Learning at the Rosalind Franklin Institute with the Artificial Intelligence team. Career-wise, she has varied interests as an aspiring physicist, including surgical robotics, solid state physics, statistical mechanics, and piloting.
